Be nice. But don’t be a victim!

Are you obese? Then you might be a victim of the food industry. It is well known that humans are prone to a certain sort of food. The bliss point for example, the ratio of 1g fat to 2g of sugar, is found in breast milk, and it’s known to be very palatable. The industry uses that information. Of course, they want us to consume, buy. Imagine living in the wild. There is just not enough food, because there is so much competition. You wouldn’t have time for raspberries to become ripe and sweet, because other animals would eat them before. It makes sense to eat what you can get when there’s barely enough.

In our world of overflow, we don’t have to make any effort to gain weight. But unfortunately our body did not change its reaction to available food. We often overeat, and easily become obese. Junk food triggers exactly the rewarding system that makes you like it. And the industry makes use of that, because it sells itself. Period. You have to actively decide that your health is valuable, and that it’s worth to say no to processed food. Say yes to clean food and enjoy the benefits of vitamins, fibre, and less chemicals.

Are you a victim of another industry? Spending too much money on electronics, shoes, cars? Too much time on social media? We have been hunters and gatherers for the longest time! It was essential for our surviving to gather useful objects. There is a rewarding system for that. Again, the industry makes use of that. And though it might seem hard, but you do have a choice! Anyone who tells you that your phone is outdated, your shoes are too cheap for that event, or your car has the wrong sound system, wants to survive in the wolf pack. Wants to make money. Your pleasure is secondary to the industries, it’s an indicator for revenue.

And then there’s peer pressure. People don’t like others being different, because that is not comfortable. Our brain likes it easy. It saves energy to think less, when we’re all the same. But today we have enough calories to think, it’s stress that drains us. And we don’t have to be the same. We don’t have to suffer for the sake of adjustment.

Today there is no risk of not following ‘them’! You won’t starve, you won’t freeze or get caught by a bear. Be nice, but do your thing. Don’t be a victim.
